I’m eager to connect with other writers and, am teetering on the literary abyss, reading my essays into the void, the black hole that is Vegas, or so I suspect. However, I’m willing to be one hundred percent wrong about this town of tattered glitz, monotonous tracts littering the landscape as I loiter, literally and otherwise, working my ass off on three——count ‘em, three——projects and all at once. Help!!!

Consider yourself connected. If you’re looking for virtual kindred spirits, the possibilities are infinite. Check our Resources page (menu above our banner) for some of our favorites. Twitter will link you to an amazing assortment of writers of every genre, and hash tags will let you narrow the field as much as you like.

Before you despair about your hood, you should know that the LV lit community is smallish but thriving. Check out Lady Silvia, a bar with its own library and literary aspirations in the arts district (see http://wewantedtobewriters.com/2011/11/how-our-book-began/; http://wewantedtobewriters.com/2011/11/knpr-interviews-eric-and-glenn/; http://wewantedtobewriters.com/2011/11/life-and-lit-in-the-neon/ ;) . The Vegas Valley Book Festival in the fall draws big names. You should also connect with the Creative Writing program in the English Department at UNLV; it was co-founded by Douglas Unger (see his bio in Our Authors under About the Book below the banner) and has regular readings. As if all that weren’t enough, Vegas is full of raw material and characters for stories. Stay in touch, and let us know how your quest progresses.
